Attorney General Tom Corbett

Attorney General Tom Corbett threw his support behind the PA GOP’s endorsed candidates for statewide judicial office at a press conference in Harrisburg.  General Corbett noted the candidates’ years of experience and practical approaches to the law as a few ways they earned his support.   ” I have no doubt our ticket is made up of exactly the type of fair-minded and hardworking jurists that the Commonwealth’s voters want deciding cases dealing with matters that affect their everyday lives,”  Corbett stated.

LIFEPAC

LIFEPAC was organized in 1980 as a Political Action Committee dedicated to uphold the sanctity of human life from conception until natural death.  Endorsements are given to individuals based on signed responses to questionnaires, interviews and public statements and actions. LIFEPAC is the oldest pro-life PAC in southwestern Pennsylvania

There are two components to Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings: General Ethical Standards Rating - The General Ethical Standards Rating denotes adherence to professional standards of conduct and ethics, reliability, diligence and other criteria relevant to the discharge of professional responsibilities. The General Recommendation Rating is: V - Very High

A lawyer must receive a General Ethical Standards Rating before his or her review can proceed to the next step: Legal Ability Ratings - Legal Ability Ratings take into consideration the standard of professional ability in the area where the lawyer practices, the lawyer’s expertise, and other professional qualifications. If a lawyer’s practice is limited or specialized, Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings are based on performance in those specific fields of law.

Legal Ability Ratings are: C - Good to High, B - High to Very High, A - Very High to Preeminent. When both categories of Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings are confirmed, a lawyer receives an CV®, BV® or AV® Rating.

Allegheny County Bar Association

Rating: Highly Recommended

The Allegheny County Bar Association’s Judiciary Committee has released its ratings for the judgeship in the primary election on May 19, 2009. The Allegheny County Bar Association (ACBA) is a professional organization with more than 6,600 member lawyers, judges, magisterial district justices, legal administrators, and paralegals. Each year the ACBA conducts various projects that touch many aspects of the community and the legal profession. The ACBA members work to improve the profession, the communities in which they live, and the administration of justice in society.

Pennsylvania Bar Association Judicial Evaluation Committee

Rating: Recommended

The Candidate has extensive experience as an appellate advocate and has appeared before the Superior Court on numerous occasions. His substantive legal experience covers a wide variety of areas, including zoning, land use, commercial, medical malpractice and tort litigation. The Candidate is recognized for his strong writing abilities, scholarly legal analysis and effective advocacy. He has taught continuing legal education courses and has participated in bar association committees. In addition, he has provided pro bono support for church and community organizations. The Candidate has the requisite legal experience, intellectual ability, character and integrity to render him competent to fulfill the demanding responsibilities of a Superior Court judge and, therefore, the Commission recommends him for a position on the court.
